Steven Zedler’s journey began with a Bachelor of Science from Saint Vincent College, followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed his residency in large animal surgery.

In 2008, he achieved Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS), confirming his place among the top tier of veterinary surgeons worldwide. His career spans continents, bringing his surgical expertise to veterinary hospitals in the United States and South Africa, including prestigious appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Pretoria.

In 2010, he brought this global experience to Australia, joining UQ VETS Equine Specialist Hospital, where he continues to perform complex procedures and advance the standards of equine care.

One of his most remarkable feats involved a 12-hour surgery to save a high-value equine patient. “Very few places can keep a horse alive for that length of time,” he said. “As surgeons, we need talented and experienced anaesthesiologists. It is a privilege to be part of that team.”
