PEVA - Polish Equine Veterinary Association: History, Mission & Congress

The Polish Equine Veterinary Association (PEVA) is the national organisation representing veterinarians working in equine practice in Poland. Established in 2002, PEVA has grown into a respected professional society, supporting its members with continuing education, advocacy, and international collaboration.

Today, PEVA is not only a vital resource for Polish equine practitioners but also an active member of Europe’s wider equine veterinary network.

A Brief History

The Polish Equine Veterinary Association was founded in 2002 by a group of equine practitioners who recognised the need for a dedicated society to raise standards of horse healthcare in Poland. Before its creation, Polish equine veterinarians lacked a unified organisation focused on their specific professional needs.

Since then, PEVA has steadily expanded its activities, building strong links with European partners, hosting training events, and representing Polish equine vets within FEEVA (Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations).

Mission & Objectives

The mission of PEVA is to strengthen equine veterinary medicine in Poland and support practitioners through education, representation, and collaboration. Its objectives include:

Continuing education: Organising scientific lectures, workshops, and practical training for equine vets.
Professional advocacy: Representing Polish equine veterinarians in national and European discussions.

The XVIII International Equine Veterinary Conference of the Polish Equine Veterinary Association (PEVA) has become a cornerstone of the equine veterinary calendar in Poland. This year’s conference will be held on 14–15 November 2025 in Opalenica, Poland.

In addition to local meetings, PEVA encourages members to participate in major international congresses like BEVA Congress (UK) and FEEVA events, ensuring Polish vets remain connected to the wider profession.

The Polish Equine Veterinary Association is an active member of the Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations (FEEVA), which brings together 23 national organisations across Europe.

Through FEEVA, PEVA collaborates with associations such as HAEP (Hungary), EEVA (Estonia) , REVA (Russia) and the Czech Hippiatric Association.
