DAY ONE

Advanced Clinical Lectures

(Brisbane City)

The workshop begins with a full day of advanced lectures focusing on clinical reasoning and imaging interpretation.

Topics include:

  • When the canter reveals problems missed at the trot
  • Optimising radiographs of the hock
  • Diagnosing difficulty turning under saddle
  • Interpreting radiographs of the foot, pastern and fetlock
  • Radiographic interpretation of the neck
  • Clinical causes of head tossing
  • Tripping and stumbling in the ridden horse
  • Optimising your ultrasound machine

The day concludes with panel discussions.

DAY TWO

Systematic Lameness Examination

(Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital)

This day focuses on performing a complete systematic lameness examination.

Participants will practice:

  • Static examination techniques
  • In-hand gait assessment
  • Flexion tests
  • Lunging on soft and firm surfaces
  • Evaluating horses under saddle
  • Assessing horse-rider interaction

Case workups and diagnostic planning sessions will follow in the afternoon. The day concludes with group discussion.

DAY THREE

Diagnostic Imaging and Analgesia WetLabs

Participants rotate through small-group diagnostic stations including:

  • Cadaver nerve block practice
  • Distal limb ultrasound
  • Radiographic positioning and interpretation
